1. THANKS!!!
Thanks to Anne and Dennis McGreer for their work in preparing an
electronic version of the infamous PAQ. Their efforts made it
possible for many staff to use their computers to fill out the
form.
2. FACULTY/STAFF NEWS
Effective June 7, William Schendel resigned his position as
Senior Circulation Assistant in the Music Library.
3. IUB LIBRARIES' RCSD HOME PAGE PRAISED IN AMERICAN LIBRARIES
According to the "Internet Librarian" department of the June 1995
issue of American Libraries, the World Wide Web resources
developed by the IUB Libraries' Research Collections and Services
Department is one of five academic library sites that "separate
the champagne from the snake oil, provide resources most useful
for their clientele, and add helpful commentary to their highly
organized pages." In her article, "Lean, Mean Searching
Machines," Karen Schneider states, "...[the] RCSD Home Page at
Indiana University/Bloomington continues a strong tradition of
electronic services from this library." Congratulations to Jian
Liu and the many other contributors to the RCSD Home Pages!

4. RECEPTION FOR DEAN NEAL
On June 30 Jim Neal will complete a six year tenure as Dean of
the Indiana University Libraries to become the Sheridan Director
of the Milton S. Eisenhower Library at Johns Hopkins University.
Jim Neal came to the IU Libraries after holding positions at Penn
State University, the University of Notre Dame, and the City
University of New York. His work here has been marked by
organizational and technological change which has brought the IU
Libraries to the forefront in academic libraries throughout North
America. Jim's energy, vision, and ability to articulate the
issues facing large research libraries have served the university
and the libraries exceedingly well. As Chancellor Kenneth Gros
Louis said of Dean Neal, he is a "citizen" of the University in
the most positive sense. The IU Libraries have been most
fortunate to have shared in Jim Neal's career. He has served us
well and we will all miss him.
Please come to the Main Library Staff Lounge on June 30 from 3:00
p.m. to 4:30 p.m. for an informal good-bye reception for Dean
Neal. It will be our opportunity to wish him well and thank him
for being our dean for the past six years. It has been
marvelous!
--Pat Steele, Associate Dean
