Four recording laboratories serve the processing needs of the Archives. Three of these are primarily sound laboratories, equipped with disc and compact disc playback machines, reel-to-reel, cassette, and DAT recorders, and equalization equipment. The flexible design of these labs accomodates additional machines such as cylinder and wire playback devices in the sound path. The fourth laboratory contains video duplication equipment, which copies videotapes that have been recorded in a variety of formats. One sound lab is equipped with a computerized digital processing and editing system, including a CD-R drive for the production of audio CDs.
