Eligibility for Library Services

IUB Libraries Distributed Education Services are available to students who are enrolled in IU Bloomington (IUB) courses but live outside the Bloomington area. This includes PhD candidates who are enrolled for dissertation credit and do not reside near the Bloomington campus.

We are happy to help you with your individual research problem by e-mail (libdist, Go online to chat live with a librarian, call our toll-free number (888-258-6977 from the U.S., Canada, or the Caribbean), or come to the Reference Department if you happen to be in Bloomington.

IUB Libraries Distributed Education Services are not available to students on the Bloomington campus or to individuals not affiliated with Indiana University-Bloomington.

Libraries Around the State

It is not always possible or practical for you to have IUB Libraries' books sent to you for your distance course work. In that case it is recommended that you make use of local libraries when necessary. Check here for libraries in Indiana near you. Many sites include searchable online catalogs.
