Limiting a Search

Revise the search using two of the terms in the Search History and some limiting factors.

  1. Select the New Search link
  2. Select the Refine Searchtab.
  3. Type S1 and S4 in the Find text box.

    You may limit the search results to journals only or ERIC documents only by selecting Documents or Journal Articles in the Limit Your Results section. It may be necessary to scroll down to see this section of the screen.

  4. Highlight Journal Articles in the Journal of Document Menu.
  5. Click on Search.

    If the search results are too large (in this case the results are over 900) you may wish to limit the search to a specific year or range of years.

  6. Click on the Refine Search tab.
  7. Type S4 and S1 in the Find text box.
  8. Scroll down to the Limit Your Results section. In the Date Published section, select July 2004 to July 2007.
  9. Click on Search. This limits the search COMPUTER ASSISTED INSTRUCTION and ELEMENTARY EDUCATION and ERIC journals to those items published from 1997 through 2000.
  10. Review each record and read the abstract to evaluate each item in your result list
  11. Before moving to the next module click the New Search button to return to the search page.
