                                                                        Using *

* (the asterisk symbol) is used to search for records that contain any form of a word. It can be used at the end or within a term and can take the place of one or more letters.

Sample Searches:

Indiana near Fossil*
Indiana near Glaci*

When the words Fossil* and Glaci* are searched, records with all forms of these words will be displayed.

  • Fossil, Fossils, Fossiliferous, Fossilize, Fossilization
  • Glacier, Glaciers, Glacial, Glaciation, Glaciated
Indiana near Pal*eontology
  • Finds records with the words Paleontology or Palaeontology.

Indiana near Ground*water
