Daniel Boone is known as one of America's great pioneers and frontiersmen; his life was rich with colorful adventures. In 1775 he blazed the famous Wilderness Road through Kentucky and founded the town of Boonesboro on the Kentucky River. During the American Revolution he served as a captain of militia and was captured by Native Americans. Later he served several times as a representative in the Virginia legislature.
