CROSBY MSS.
The Crosby mss., 1928-1929, consist of letters and telegrams from poet, editor Harry Crosby, 1898-1929, and from his wife Caresse Crosby, 1892-1970, to poet Richard Thoma, 1902- . The letters from Harry Crosby discuss literature, his views on writing, the artist "Alastair," and general topics of mutual interest. The letters and telegrams from Caresse Crosby relate to Thoma's reading proofs of Sterne's A Sentimental Journey for Black Sun Press and to his translations into English of Proust's letters to Walter Berry.
Included in the collection is a set of galleys for an article by John Peele, "Letters of Marcel Proust to Walter Berry" and a carbon typescript entitled "Alastair", an appreciation of the artist written by Harry Crosby.
