ENGLISH LEGAL DOCUMENTS III
English Legal Documents III, 1279-1668, consist of samples of handwriting from the thirteenth to seventeenth centuries.
The collection includes 11 manorial documents: Wisbech, 1279; Wallington, 1302; Peterborough, 1314; Ely, 1317; Ipswich, 1327; Mansfield, 1329; Ashby-de-la-Zouch, 1343; Chantry, near Slymbridge, Glos., 1343; Bradford, 1368; Walton, n.d. (13th century?): South Sycke, n.d. (14th century).
Included also is a group of seventeenth century documents (agreements, receipts, etc.). for example, receipts for Army Levy, 1655, Militia tax, 1664, Tax for Royal Ayd, 1667; Carpenter's account for work done for Lord Townshend, 1666; agreement between two Army commanders (1650?). The documents are numbered 1 to 26.
