The Guitry mss., 20th cent., is an undated, unsigned corrected typescript of Quadrille by Sacha Guitry, 1885-1957, actor, producer, and playwright. Born Alexander Pierre Georges Guitry in St. Petersburg where his father Lucien Guitry was under contract to the Imperial Court of Russia, Sacha Guitry began early in life to act on the stage. Later upon his return to France with his mother he began to write plays. In due time he went on to produce a number of screen successes. Following World War II he spent sixty days in prison for collaboration with the Nazis. After his release Guitry wrote a book of memoirs about his experiences. He continued to write dramatic works and novels.
