The Lewis mss., 1812-1815, are letters of Morgan Lewis, 1754-1844, former governor of New York and a major-general in the War of 1812, to his wife, Mrs. Gertrude (Livingston) Lewis. They relate to Lewis' military service under General Henry Dearborn at his headquarters in Albany, New York, in 1812, and on the Niagara frontier, and at Sackets Harbor, New York, in 1813, and under General James Wilkinson at Sackets Harbor and in the campaign against Montreal in 1813.
