MAUGHAM, R. MSS.
The Maugham, R. mss., 1936-1967, consist primarily of letters between diplomat and writer Sir Harold George Nicolson, 1886-1968, and author Robin Maugham, 1916-1981. The two men were long time friends and the correspondence discusses their personal and family lives, mutual acquaintances, writing projects, and travels. Several of the letters also discuss the health and activities of Robin's uncle, Somerset Maugham.
Also present is one letter from Nicolson to Robin Maugham's sister, Kate Mary Bruce, a few exchanges between Maugham and Sir Harold's son, Nigel, three letters from Sir Harold's secretary, Elvira Niggeman, to Maugham, and copies of two undated letters from Soviet spy Guy Burgess to Sir Harold Nicolson.
