SINCLAIR, D. MSS.
The Sinclair, D. mss., ca. 1911-1987, consist chiefly of the correspondence of physicist David Sinclair, 1901-1987, with his father Upton Beall Sinclair, 1878-1968, a few other members of his family, and Indiana University. Some of the topics include Upton's Thunder Over Mexico project and the acquisition of his papers by Indiana University.
Family related items include a summer 1913 "terminal report" for David, age 11, from The Home School; "Letters of Administration," Nov. 4, 1931, to David as administrator for the estate of his grandmother Priscilla Sinclair; and the cemetery lot deed bought by Upton and wife May, Jan. 8, 1968. Also present is a folder of photographs of David's mother, Meta (Fuller) Stone and her family; one folder of David Sinclair photographs, and two folders of Upton Sinclair photographs, including family and friends; four folders of clippings from scrapbooks; and three folders of miscellaneous printed items relating to David and to Upton. Four reel-to-reel tapes and a folio which includes a 1983 pen and ink portrait drawing of Upton Sinclair complete the collection.
A complete inventory to the collection is available.
