ADOMEIT MSS. III
The Adomeit mss. III, ca. 1961-1995, consist of correspondence between Ruth Elizabeth Adomeit, 1910-1996, miniature book collector and bibliographer, and James DeLancey. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Adomeit attended Wellesley College in Massachusetts and worked as an elementary school teacher. She collected miniature books throughout her life and from 1960 to 1962 wrote Miniature Book Collector, a quarterly publication. Later, Adomeit co-founded the Miniature Book Society and in 1980 published Three Centuries of Thumb Bibles, the standard reference work for these books. James DeLancey was a colleague in the miniature book trade and co-author of My Favorite Miniature Book with Ruth Adomeit and several others.
Additional correspondents include Rebecca Saady Bingham, the Estate of Ruth Adomeit, and The Lilly Library. A copy of Ruth Adomeit's will is included with correspondence from the Estate.
