The Barnard mss., 1940-1966, consist of the research materials gathered by professor Ellsworth Barnard, 1907- , for his biography Wendell Willkie: Fighter for Freedom (Marquette, Northern Michigan University Press, 1966).
The collection includes correspondence and transcripts of interviews with many of Willkie's friends, associates and family; preliminary drafts of the biography; correspondence, memoranda, and publicity relating to the publication of the book; copies of reviews; and a few pieces written by Barnard about Willkie, including the original complete typescript of the biography.
