Lilly Library Manuscript Collections


The Binkley, Raglind mss., ca. 1450-1842, consist of an Arabic/Latin grammar and orthography text, printed in Rome, dated 1650; one leaf of 15th century music. This leaf, from a late medieval liturgical book, presents the extremely rare Latin chant "Discubuit Jesus" ("Jesus sat"), which is based on Luke 22:14-15 and 19; one leaf from a small 15th c. prayer book; one bound missal printed in 1842, Missae Defunctorum Junta Usum Eccesiae cum ordine et canone extensae; and one large manuscript leaf from a Vulgate Bible, Psalm 9, incomplete verses 16-24 (IUXTA Septuaginta).
