Lilly Library Manuscript Collections


The Brown, E.F., mss., 1936-1942, consist of the correspondence of Edward Fisher Brown, 1889- , businessman, concerning the acquisition of a number of early Peruvian documents and their description and inclusion in the Census of Medieval and Renaissance Manuscripts in the United States and Canada, by Seymour De Ricci and William Jerome Wilson. The manuscripts were acquired from the Peruvian legislator and historian, Jorge Maria Corbacho. The collection also includes four notebooks containing drafts of a description of the documents entitled "Sixteenth Century Documents of the Conquest and Pacification of Peru" and of the De Ricci-Wilson listing.

The correspondents in the collection include Leslie Edgar Bliss, Edward Fisher Brown, Stella Risley Clemence, Jorge Maria Corbacho, Stanley J. Dempsey, Jessica L. Farnum, Harry Miller Lydenberg, and William Jerome Wilson.
