The Burke, A.T., mss., 1955-1958, are letters from Dorothy (Davies) Rogers and her husband, Dr. Allan F. Rogers, 1919?-
, medical officer of the British Commonwealth Trans- Antarctic Expedition, 1957-1958, led by Sir Vivian Fuchs, and Lecturer on physiology at the University of Bristol, England, to Avis (Tarrant) Burke and her husband Robert Elisha Burke, Professor of Art at Indiana University. One of Mrs. Rogers' grandmothers was a first cousin of Mrs. Burke.
Mrs. Rogers' letters describe the plans, preparations and progress of the expedition and give personal and family news. A letter of January 20,1958 from Allan F. Rogers to Mrs. Burke is postmarked "Pole Station, Antartica" at the top of the letter.
