The Canary mss., 1929-1965, consist of farm records and accounts of Paul W. Canary, 1903-1995, of Johnson County, Indiana. Canary was a life-long resident of Franklin, Indiana, graduating from Franklin High School, as well as attending Franklin College. He was a member and past president of the Johnson County Farm Bureau, as well as of the Jersey Cattle Club, where he has also served as president. Awards received by him included designation as Sagamore of the Wabash by Governor Roger Branigan; the Master Farmer Award from Prairie Farmer; and recognition as the outstanding conservation farmer for Johnson County in 1966.
The collection is in two boxes as follows: Box 1: Farm accounts 1929-1953; Box 2: Farm accounts 1954-1965. Also present in Box 2 is a photograph of Paul Canary and four printed items: three re: Jersey cows and the June 1944 issue of Successful Farming with Paul Canary on the cover.
