Lilly Library Manuscript Collections

The Cooper mss. III, ca. 1927-1980, consist of letters, photographs, and memorabilia such as plaques and resolutions, of and relating to journalist and Associated Press Director Kent Cooper, 1880-1965.

The letters are from Arctic explorer Richard Byrd and from John Hohenberg. The photographs include one of President Harry S Truman addressing an AP luncheon in 1947 and one of Cooper with golf champion Bobby Jones in Augusta, Georgia.

It is thought that these are the items formerly on display outside the Kent Cooper Room of the Main Library, Indiana University, Bloomington, IN. The books and pamphlets from that display have been removed for Lilly Library book cataloging. The labels and photocopies of the jackets for the books by Kent Cooper are present in this group of materials.

There is an inventory of the collection in the Vertical File.
