Lilly Library Manuscript Collections


The Dauner mss. II, 1921-1972, consist of materials by and relating to American poet Edwin Arlington Robinson, 1869-1935. Present are two letters from Robinson, 1921 and 1930, and five letters to and from Professor Emeritus Louise Dauner of Indianapolis, Indiana, about Robinson or his family. Also present are two copies of Robinson's poem "Hector Kane" - one in pencil draft form and the other a typescript marked for the printer; eight photographs of Robinson dating from about 1881 to l9l6; photographs of the Robinson homes and memorial, all in Maine, taken around 1944; and the typescript of Louise Dauner's study of Robinson: The Darkening Hill. The World of Edwin Arlington Robinson. A small group of photographic copies of Robinson letters and manuscripts from the Harvard University Library holdings and printed listings of other Robinson collections complete the collection.
