The Dorn mss., 1959-1965, are the letters of LeRoi Jones, 1934- , poet, living in New York City, to Edward Dorn, 1929- , author, in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Pocatello, Idaho. Matters of common interest, the writing of books and articles, the publishing of poetry magazines, poetry readings, teaching experiences are discussed. Personalities in the literary world, jazz musicians, and artists who figure in the intellectual life of the times in New York City are mentioned. Some of the letters bear the letterhead of Totem Press and Corinth books. A letter of William Epton, labor leader, to Jones about the Harlem riot of 1964 is forwarded to Dorn for his information.

Seven poems are included in typescript form: Citizen Cain, Footnote to a pretentious book, Hegel, Houdini, LindaBJ, Major Bowes' Diary, The politics of rich painters.
