The Gallion mss., 1827-1837, are letters and papers of Nathan D. Gallion, merchant of Brookville, Indiana. Included are business letters and invoices from wholesalers in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Cincinnati; business letters from his partner, Reuben H. Johnson in Ashland, Indiana; a letter, April 1, 1827, from his sister, P. Caldwell, Nashville, relating to family affairs; and a letter, Washington, D.C., September 5, 1837, from James Rariden, 1795-1856, of Brookville, Indiana, congressman, recounting events in Congress and setting forth his own high political standards.
