GRAHAM, JOHN MSS.
The Graham, John mss., 1831-1878, consist of letters and papers of the Graham and Howe families of Monroe County, Indiana.
Include a deed of land in Monroe County, October 12, 1831, from Robertson Graham, 1795-1885, farmer, and his wife, Phebe (Moberly) Graham, to William Ellet; deeds of land in Monroe County, 1832-1846, to John Graham, 1798/9- , carpenter, from George Henry, John and Samuel M. Orchard, and John Eller; copybooks, 1845 and 1846, of Isabella M. Graham, student in the Monroe county seminary, Bloomington, Indiana; Civil War letters of Edmund Graham, died 1861, soldier in the 22nd Indiana Regiment, and of Alfred Everitt Graham, 1837- 1895, clerk in the pay department of the U.S. Army and banker; and a letter of November 25, 1861, from Captain Daniel Sunderman to James M. Howe, reporting the death of Edmund Graham.
Howe materials are among the certificates of admission to the bar of Alfred Graham Howe, 1853- , lawyer, issued by the Monroe County Circuit Court, March 15, 1875, and by the U.S. Circuit Court for the District of Indiana, January 16, 1878.
