Among the papers are an account and commonplace book of Thornton Griffith, 1799-1869, farmer, containing accounts of farming and contracting business in Clinton and Montgomery Counties, Indiana, recipes, and miscellaneous notes, 1831-1869; a journal of John Work Hutchings, Indiana legislator, of accounts as timber cutter, farmer, and contractor for the construction of the Fort Wayne and Southern Railroad Company, 1847-1862; three diaries of Thomas J. Griffith, 1858, 1859, 1865; journal of Mrs. Martha E. (Hutchings) Griffith containing diaries, 1863-1881, obstetrical case histories, medical office accounts, 1871, and correspondence, 1866-1868; letters from Solon Tilford, physician, to Mrs. Martha E. (Hutchings) Griffith and medical lecture notes, 1865-1866; lecture notes of Thomas J. Giffith, department of medicine and surgery at the University of Michigan, 1865-1866; lecture notes of Thomas J. Griffith at the Miami Medical College, Cincinnati, Ohio, 1866, 1867; medical account book of Thomas J. Griffith, Darlington, Indiana, 1867-1874; notes of Mrs. Martha E.
