GRIMALDI MSS.
The Grimaldi mss., 1802-1840, consist of the extra illustrations for The Memoirs of Joseph Grimaldi, edited by Charles Dickens. Joseph Grimaldi, 1779-1837, was considered the greatest clown of his day, performing at such prominent theatres as Drury Lane, Sadler's Wells and Theatre Royal, Covent Garden. The collection contains letters and receipts from various theater and literary persons; watercolor, ink and pencil sketches; and a ledger page from the Theatre Royal, Covent Garden.
