HARRIS, S.M. MSS.
The Harris, S.M. mss., ca 1950–2004, consist of personal correspondence between S. Miller Harris and author Kurt Vonnegut. Harris and Vonnegut, classmates at Cornell University during the 1940's, worked for the Cornell Daily Sun during their years at Cornell. In 1942–1943, Harris served as the paper's Editor–in–Chief while the younger Vonnegut served as his Associate Editor–in–Chief. Founded in 1880, The Cornell Daily Sun is one nation's oldest independent daily college newspapers. Harris went on to be associated as an executive with the Eagle Shirt Company.
