Lilly Library Manuscript Collections


The Hensley mss., 1972-1979, consist of the writings and related correspondence of Joe L. Hensley, 1926- , author and Indiana 5th circuit court judge.

The manuscripts present include: Black Roads (Laser Books, 1976), A Killing in Gold (Doubleday, 1978), Legislative Body (Doubleday, 1972), The Poison Summer (Doubleday, 1974), Rivertown Risk (Doubleday, 1977), and A Song of Corpus Juris (Doubleday, 1974).

Additions to the collection include manuscripts for Minor Murders (Doubleday, 1979), and Outcasts (Doubleday, 1981). Additional correspondence relates to his activities in various science fiction and mystery writers' organizations, as well as to the sale and publication of his writings. Also present is a large file of clippings and articles about Judge Hensley.
