The Hitchcock mss., 1969-1970, consist primarily of letters from author Raymond Carver, 1938-1988, and artist Robert McChesney, b.1913, to editor and small press publisher George Hitchcock, b.1914. The letters concern Hitchcock's publication of Carver 's volume of poems, first titled Drinking While Driving, but published as Winter Insomnia (Santa Cruz, CA: Kayak Books, 1970) [Lilly PS3553.A79 W78]. Also present is the typescript of Drinking While Driving marked for the printer but without the title change indicated, or McChesney's prints.
