HOWARD ORAL HISTORY MSS.

The Howard Oral History mss., 1989-1990, consist of transcriptions of oral history interviews relating the history of the Howard family and of the Howard Ship Yards in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Presenters are James Edmonds Howard, 1876-1956, last owner of the Ship Yards; Frances Howard Kohlhepp, 1900-1987, niece of James E. Howard; Edmonds John Howard, 1910- , James' son; John T. Smith; and C.W. Stoll.

Contents: vol. 1 - Introductory booklet; vols. 2-11 - interviews with Frances Howard Kohlhepp conducted by Mary Augustine Starr; vols. 12-13 - interviews of John T. Smith; vol. 14 - reminiscences of Catherine Richardson, Frances Kohlhepp and John Smith; vol. 15 - interviews of C.W. Stoll; vols. 16-19 - interviews of Edmonds John Howard to accompany slide presentations he made. The Introductory booklet includes an index to the tapes and manuscripts.
