INDIANA COAL ASSOCIATION MSS.
The Indiana Coal Association mss., 1926–1958, consist primarily of statistical data on the Indiana coal industry. The collection includes: consumer commercial reports, reports by mines, realization and destination of shipments records, cost data, summary operating results, and annual production data.
The collection is organized into three sections, Indexes [A], B and C, coinciding with the three shipments received by the library.
The first shipment [Index A], received June 7, 1960, consists of realization and destination of shipments records, 1943–1958, in statistical form. These records have been divided into two series: I. World War II Period, and II. Post World War II Period. The reports for the World War II Period consist of Consumer Commercial Reports, 1943–1945, and Consolidated Railroad and Market Area Reports, 1942–1945. Those for the Post World War II Period are divided into the following series: All Mines Reports, 1946–1958; Reports by Mines, 1954; C.T.A. Reports, 1949–1952; Comparison of Realization Reports, 1947–1953; Destination Commercial Reports, 1949–1958; and Special Reports, 1948–1953. An inventory of this section was prepared by Philip Seitz, graduate student in the Department of Economics, Indiana University in the spring of 1960. (This inventory is available in the Library).
The second shipment, Index B, received September 29, 1961, consists of cost data, summary operating results, annual production data, and miscellaneous material, 1926–1958, in statistical form.
The third shipment, Index C, received May 18, 1962, consists of monthly reports by mines for January 1957 to September 1958, and a copy of Consolidated Price Schedule no. 2,... by National Coal Association, Washington, D.C. .
Inventories of Indexes B and C were prepared by the Department of Economic Research of Indiana University.
