The Jessner mss., 1928, consist of albums of photographs taken by members of a German-Russian Syphilis Expedition to Soviet Mongolia. The leader of the expedition was Professor Max Jessner. Album #1 contains snapshots taken by Dr. Beringer and includes photographs of people, villages, ceremonials, etc. Most of them are captioned in German. Album #2: "Reise nach Transcaikalien, April- Oktober 1928 M. Klemm." Each photograph is numbered and the album is accompanied by a typed list of identifications by number - "Bilderverzeichnis." The other four albums (#3- #6) are titled: "... Deutsch-Russische Syphilis expedition 1928. Dr. Klopstock," and numbered in Roman numerals I-IV" The first of these albums begins with photographs of "Moskau, Mai 1928," and laid into the last of them are two unidentified photographs that are probably of 1) Professor Jessner (seated at desk with pipe in hand, and 2) Drs. Patzig, Klemm, and Beringer standing behind a seated Prof. Jessner.
Accompanying the collection are galley sheets of the introduction ("Einleitung") of a publication on the expedition, undated, 24 sheets, in German.
