The Killanin mss., 1951-1958, consist of photocopies of correspondence of Michael Morris, baron Killanin, 1914- , concerning Four Provinces Productions, a film-making company created to make films in Ireland, with Irish actors and technicians. The bulk of the correspondence is with American director John Ford, who directed the film The Rising of the Moon for Four Provinces Productions. There is also correspondence with Ford's associates, including screenwriter Frank Stanley Nugent, and with American actor Tyrone Power. The collection contains information on the making of several other Ford films, including Mogambo, The Last Hurrah, and Mr. Roberts, as well as The Rising of the Moon.
