Lilly Library Manuscript Collections


The Long mss., ca. 1930-1967, consist of the correspondence, manuscripts, research notes, etc., of historian and author of children's books, Laura Mooney Long, 1892-1967. Included are files with her publishers Longmans, Green and Company, and Bobbs-Merrill Company. Individual personal correspondents include illustrator Clotilde Embree Funk, Mabel Leigh Hunt, and Jeannette Covert Nolan. Long's manuscripts present include published and unpublished short stories, lectures or talks, and full-length texts for several books, both published and unpublished. Some original art works are also present, notably three by Clotilde Embree Funk published in Long's book The Chosen Boy (Bobbs-Merrill, 1952).
