MESSICK MSS. II
The Messick mss. II, March 25-July 13, 1946 and January 5- March 23, 1947, consist of 104 original pen and ink drawings of the Brenda Starr newspaper comic strip by Dale Messick, 1906- , cartoonist.
The first group of ninety-two drawings done in 1946 are for the daily strip and recount the story of "Trash Alley." The second group of twelve strips, 1947, are the Sunday comic pages and relate to the story of "Haelo Angel."
Each strip is dated with month and day and carries a date received stamp on verso for the Chicago Tribune Engraving Department. Many of the strips also have the Chicago Tribune copyright label.
