Lilly Library Manuscript Collections


The Miller mss., 1890-1990, consist of the papers of Indiana University professor of sociology and business administration Delbert Charles Miller, 1913-1998. Writings by Miller include Industrial Sociology (1951) and Industry, Labor, and Community (1960) , co-written with William H. Form; and Community Power Structures: Comparative Studies of Four World Cities (1970) and Leadership and Power in the BOS-WASH Megalopolis (1975), by Miller.

The collection is organized into the following series: I. Biographical; II. Writings; III. Correspondence; IV. Mitchell Hall; and, V. Miscellaneous.

Outlines, drafts, typescripts, and reviews are present in the writings section. Also included are lectures on industrial sociology delivered by Miller at the University of San Marcos in Lima, Peru in 1965 as a Fulbright professor, correspondence mostly with his editors, and papers concerning the preservation of Mitchell Hall on the Indiana University campus, Bloomington.
