Lilly Library Manuscript Collections

The Miller, H. mss., 1939-1941, consist of letters from author Henry Miller, 1891-1980, to Ambrose C. Cramer of Santa Barbara, California. The first letter, written from Corfu, Greece, in 1939 comments that "If ever we meet I shall most certainly be glad to autograph your copies of the books." He also encloses a small snapshot of a sculpture of his head, described and dated on the verso. The other two letters, both written from Hollywood in June and July 1941, talk about the fact that he will be passing through Santa Barbara and perhaps they can meet.
