RALPH B SIPPER BOOKS MSS.

The Ralph B. Sipper Books mss., 1997, consist of the correspondence and business papers of the bookselling business Ralph B. Sipper, Books Bought and Sold, of Santa Barbara, California. Sipper was the founder and proprietor of the firm Joseph the Provider Books, also in Santa Barbara, until his retirement in 1996. He then went into private business as a bookseller, working book fairs, doing collection appraisals, and finding and selling individual books to individual customers.

Most of the correspondence, presently in alphabetical order, is with other book sellers, small press publishers, librarians, authors, and book collectors. Among the correspondents are Eric Bentley, Christopher Buckley, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, William Heyen, David Markson, Harold Norse, Tom Robbins, and Carolyn See.
