TIBBITS, MERCEDES MSS.

Tibbits, Mercedes mss., ca. 1931-2008, consists of books and literary journals from the collection of Dr. Mercedes Vidal Tibbits. Tibbits is from Barcelona, Spain. She received her Bachelor's degree from the University of Barcelona, Spain in 1969, and received her Ph.D. in 1980 from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana in Peninsular Literature with a specialty in 19th-century Spanish Literature.

Tibbits is currently a graduate professor at Howard University in Washington, D.C. She has been teaching at Howard University in some capacity since 1986. She is the editor of two books, is the author of more than thirty articles and six book reviews, and has presented more than 40 papers. Tibbits is also the co-founder and managing editor of the Catalan Review, an international journal on Catalan literature and culture.
