  • 1882, Feb.-1883, Sept. 18. Drafts of letters from OLW to various people. At end of volume: expenses for June 19-July 5, 1883; list of letters sent June 19-July 29, 1883; miscellaneous notes. Notebook.
  • 1883, Sept. 20-1884, Feb 29. Drafts of letters. At end of volume: list of letters written, 1883, Aug.-1884, Feb.; "Tithe Acct." 1883, Sept. 29-1884, July 6. Notebook.
  • 1886. "O.L. Watkins, Fultonham, Ohio, Jan. 27, 1886." First entries in January are weather reports only. On each of the following entries expenditures for the day are recorded. The accounts totaled up in the "Cash Account" section at the back. The Diary ends with an index of letters sent and received. Brown cloth, "Standard Diary No 111" stamped in gold on the cover with almanac for 1886.
  • 1887. "O.L. Watkins, Fultonham, Ohio, Jan. 1, 1886 [i.e. 1887]" "Addresses and Memoranda" section at the beginning of the journal is used to index letters received and answered. Each entry has daily expenditures recorded as well as his location: Columbus, Etna, Granville, Kirkersville, New Lexington. The Diary ends with cash accounts for each month. Red cloth with "American Diary" stamped in gold on the cover.
  • 1887, July 29-1888, Mar. 3. Drafts of letters from OLW to various people. Notebook.
  • 1888. "O.L. Watkins, Fultonham, Ohio." The "Addresses and Memoranda" section at the beginning of the journal is used to index letters received and answered. Each entry has daily expenditures recorded as well as his location: Etna, Granville, Jamesville, Kirkersville, Chicago, Minneapolis, Detroit, Zanesville, Somerset, Pataskala. The diary ends with cash accounts for each month and year end summary. Brown cloth with "American Diary" stamped on the cover with almanac for 1888.
  • 1891. "O.L. Watkins County Examiner" stamped in red on front free-end paper. Each entry has daily expenditures recorded as well as his location: Etna, Granville, Wooster, New Lexington, Chillicothe. Ends with an index of letters received and sent as well as a cash accounts for each month. Brown leather with "Excelsior Diary" stamped in gold on front cover with almanac for 1891.
  • 1892. "O.L. Watkins, Fultonham, Ohio." Chronicles Watkins's days as a teacher in Chillicothe. In this year he resigned his position in the office of the Licking County Board of Examiners in order to take up his position in Chillicothe. Each entry has daily expenditures as well as his location: Chillicothe January-June; Columbus, Somerset, Cambridge, etc. Ends with monthly and year-end summary of cash accounts; expense for Ginn & Co. June 29-Sept. 6; index to letters received and answered, June-December. Brown leather with "The American Diary" stamped in silver on front cover with almanac for 1892.
  • 1895. "O.L. Watkins Chicago, 355, Wabash Ave. Ill." Chronicles Watkins's work for Ginn & Co. Much of the journal is blank except that daily expenditures are noted, as well as his location, chiefly in Indiana: Indianapolis, Noblesville, Terre Haute, Lafayette, etc. Brown leather with almanac for 1895.
  • 1896. "O.L. Watkins, Denison Hotel, Indianapolis, Ind." Much of the journal is blank except that daily expenditures are noted, as well as his location, chiefly in Indiana: Anderson, Bloomington, Greencastle, Indianapolis, Lebanon, Muncie, Newark, Portland, Ripley, South Bend, Terre Haute, Union City, Washington, Worthington, and Winchester, as well as Athens, Chillicothe, and Cincinnati, Ohio, etc. The diary ends with monthly cash accounts including payments from Ginn & Co. Brown cloth, "Excelsior Diary" stamped on cover.
  • 1898. "O.L. Watkins, 45, The Blackherne, Indianapolis, Indiana." Much of the journal is blank except that daily expenditures are noted, as well as his location, chiefly in Indiana: Anderson, Bloomington, Glenford, Greencastle, Indianapolis, Keswick, Lebanon, Muncie, Newark, Portland, Ripley, South Bend, Terre Haute, Union City, Washington, and Worthington. In October he sails to England and the next several entries are from Ambleside, Cockersmouth, Dalton, Keswick, Liverpool, London, Stratford-Upon-Avon. Of note is mention of the purchase of a portrait of Wordsworth on Wednesday, November 2nd. Sets sail for return to the United States November 17. Brown leather with almanac for 1898.
  • 1910. Consists mostly of daily expenditure notes as well note of his location Alexandria, Anderson, Beachwood, Bloomington, Bogstown, Boston, Concord, Chester, Chicago, Crawfordsville, Decatur, Elwood, Frankfurt, Ft. Wayne, Indianapolis, Kingston, Lafayette, Lexington, Madison, Marion, Montreal, Muncie, Peru, Union City, Winchester. Ends with monthly cash accounts and year-end summary. Red leather with almanac for 1910.
  • 1927. "Rose M. Watkins 2415 N. Plum St. Indianapolis " Contains French phrases and grammar exercises. Gray cloth address book with floral wreath and topiary design on the cover.
