WELDON MSS.
The Weldon mss., 1946-1989, consist of the papers of British author and playwright Fay Weldon, 1933- . Weldon's writings include novels, short stories, scripts for the stage, radio and television, including several episodes for the popular television series Upstairs, Downstairs. She has adapted novels by other writers to the stage and screen and worked as an advertising copywriter for various firms in London. Many of Weldon's writings, particularly novels such as The Life and Loves of a She-Devil , reflect a feminist viewpoint. She has achieved various honors, including the Giles Cooper Award for best radio play, 1978, for Polaris and the Booker McConnell Prize nomination, 1979, for her novel Praxis.
