- The Bryan mss. are primarily the letters of physician George Washington Bryan written by him to his wife Alice Bryan during the Civil War. Of particular interest is an 1849 autograph album, entitled "Flowers in Frolic", decorated with several drawings and watercolors which belonged to Alice Bryan. Several mementoes were laid in the album including a piece of petitpoint and a cornucopia in watercolor.

- The Champney sketches are drawings of the post Civil War American South by James Wells Champney, painter and illustrator. Champney accompanied Edward Smith King on a trip of more than 25,000 miles through the South in 1873-1874 to make drawings for a series of articles for which King was collecting material.

- The Cladel mss. are the literary papers and correspondence of French writer Judith Jeanne Cladel. She was an early admirer of Auguste Rodin and wrote about him and was a major figure in the drive to establish a national museum for Rodin's work. Included are writings on Rodin by Cladel and copies of letters and documents of Auguste Rodin. Also there are numerous photographs of Rodin and his studio.

- The Conrad mss. are the papers of author Joseph Conrad. Of interest are two pen and ink sketches by Conrad; a printing of a caricature of Conrad from ūviat and a crayon caricature of Joseph Conrad by Sir David Low.

- The Cranstone sketches are a series of 312 pen and ink and wash sketches by Lefevre J. Cranstone illustrating a visit to the United States in 1859-1860. Some of the sketches are in full color, others tinted.

Letters written by painter Ford Madox Brown and art critic John Pollard Seddon are concerned with settling the accounts for the placement of the bronze bust of poet Dante Gabriel Rossetti, which was sculpted by Brown, for a memorial fountain placed opposite Rossetti's home.

- The Fox mss. consist of the papers of Fontaine Talbot Fox, newspaper cartoonist of the Toonerville Trolley, including correspondence, original drawings of the cartoons and scripts of books and series. Printed material includes the prints of the syndicated Toonerville Trolley comic strip. Illustrating the fifty-three characters connected with the Toonerville Trolley, the cartoons are mostly in pencil, pen and ink, and are dated 1939-1955.
- The French Lit. mss. consist of individual items acquired from various sources. Of particular interest: 1917 L'Homme et Son Desir: poeme plastique by Paul Claudel with a collage by Audrey Parr; two drawings by Jean Cocteau from 1920 and 1929 and two drawings in blue pencil by Genevieve Asse.
