- Correspondence, teaching files and writings of professor of history Fritz Theodor Epstein. Epstein was also the curator of the Slavic collections of the main library. The collection contains his correspondence with many historians, academic journals, and institutions relating to research for his own writings and on behalf of the Indiana University Libraries collections.

- Reports of a survey of Indiana newspapers and the draft of a history of newspapers in Indiana based on the survey. Logan Esarey, history professor was secretary for the survey. Also included is some Esarey family material.

- A collection of letters to Charles Eugene Ferguson, a physician of Indianapolis, Indiana and a member of the IU School of Medicine faculty. The letters are from famous persons, including scientists, well-known authors and political figures. Most were written in the 1880s in response to a query from Ferguson concerning the writings of the addressee.

- Letters and papers of Frank Albert Fetter, professor of economics. The papers in the collection relate mainly to monopolies, anti-trust legislation, Federal Trade Commission, and the basing point system of pricing. The correspondence is largely between Fetter and David Starr Jordan, president of IU from 1885-1891.

- Correspondence, professional and teaching files and writings of law professor, Ralph Follen Fuchs. Includes material relating to national organizations in which Fuchs was active such as the ACLU and the NAACP. Also includes material on faculty activities and course development.

- Papers of Vaclav Hlavaty, mathematician and professor of math. Consist of scientific writings, scientific and political speeches, and correspondence with prominent scientists, former students and others. Many of the letters relate to the unified field theory.

- Papers and correspondence of Richard Henry Holman, lawyer, written chiefly during his attendance at Indiana College at Bloomington.
- DATE RANGE: 1835-1888
- ITEM COUNT: 7,780 items Legal papers of the law firm of Hughes, Denver and Peck, Washington, D.C. The partners were James Hughes, lawyer, congressman from Indiana, and professor of law at IU from 1853 to 1856; James William Denver, lawyer, general, congressman from California and governor of Kansas Territory; and Charles F. Peck, lawyer from Illinois. The papers relate mainly to cases before the US Court of Claims. Most of them deal with Confederate claims for the return of or reimbursement for cotton, real estate, and other property seized or destroyed during the Civil War.

- Letters from Edna Johnson, assistant professor of English to members of her family. The letters were written in 1906-1907 while Miss Johnson was travelling in Europe.

- Correspondence, minutes, financial reports and memberships lists of club which originally was named the Book Club of IU Library. The club was organized in 1923 to review the literature of all fields of knowledge. The membership was later opened to all interested persons and the name was changed to reflect this.

- Papers of professor of economics Taulman Allaire Miller. They include correspondence, course outlines, field studies and speeches. The correspondence consists chiefly of official university communications and memoranda, professional correspondence such as letters of recommendation, inquiries, replies to inquiries and solicitations.

- Correspondence, printers manuscripts and proofs of the New Series of the literary magazine published first in Madison, Wisc. and then later in Bloomington, Ind. Roger Sherman Mitchell, poet and professor, revived the Review with the New Series, Issue no. 1 in 1973. He was then on the faculty of the Univ. of Wisconsin, the publication moved to IU when Mitchell accepted a teaching appointment in 1975. Beginning in 1982 the magazine was published at Oregon State Univ.

- Letters and papers of John Flesher Newsom, mining geologist. Newsom was an instructor in geology, 1895-1896 and assistant professor of geology, 1896-1897 at IU. For the period in which Newsom was associated with IU the collection contains 1894-1897 records of the Athletic Assoc. of IU of which Newsom was treasurer for part of this time. Also included are some papers, 1896-1898, of the IU Dept. of geology and of the IU geological survey with which Newsom was connected.

- Papers of Lee Roy Norvelle, professor emeritus of speech and theater. Correspondence, travel memorabilia, tape recordings, typescript and galleys for Norvelle's autobiography, The Road Taken. Also included is a producer's copy of the play "Lincoln in Indiana, 1816-1830" adapted and produced by Norvelle at the IU Auditorium.
