Games
The collection consists mostly of 19th century card and table games. The majority
of the parlor game cards are in mint condition, as are the accompanying booklets
and leaflets of instruction. Included in the collection are the original boxes
and decorative covers for game boxes and playing boards; many have suffered damage,
wear, and soiling, sometimes extensively. Most are substantially complete. The games
themselves are complete unless indicated otherwise. Games no. 1-125 are described in
"A catalogue of some American games of the late nineteenth century," shelved in separate
envelope with the collection at: Lilly \ GV1235 \ Catalog. Some instructions sheets
have been removed to a separate box (shelved with the collection) at: Lilly \ GV1235 \
Instruction Sheets.
Games no. 126-136 and no. 200-213 were the gift of Bruccoli-Clark in November 1995.
To request these materials for use, complete a Lilly Library charge card indicating the collection and specific box and item number.
