( The materials in this section consist largely of newspaper and magazine clippings. In many cases, headlines are not included; therefore, positive identification as to issue and date is impossible. Except for some items which seemed to warrant special mention, only those clippings which can be dated by headline and which are listed by Russo and Russo as first appearances are noted separately.)

(This material was probably assembled by Marcus Dickey in connection with his biography of Riley. Many of the issues bear notes in his hand. It appears that most of these issues provided Dickey with general background information. Riley was employed by several of the newspapers listed. However, a check of pp. 277-309 of Russo and Russo fails to identify any of the issues here collected as containing material by Riley. When any matter directly relating to Riley or his family has been discovered, this fact is noted.)

(Most of this material appears to have been assembled by Marcus Dickey; many of the articles bear notes in his hand, and most of the books bear his signature and a volume number, probably assigned by him. The contents of each book are of a miscellaneous nature. Therefore, only general listings have been attempted. Most of the books lend themselves to chronological arrangement. However, the miscellaneous nature of the books' arrangement makes only a rough listing of terminal dates possible. Those books whose material does not follow a chronological arrangement are listed at the end.)
