This website is based on an exhibition of the same name installed in the Lilly Library's Elisabeth Ball Room, December 3 to 20, 2001
The online exhibition "Image & Sentiment: Five Publishers of Victorian Holiday Cards" reproduces all the cards included in an exhibition of the same name installed in the Lilly Library's Elisabeth Ball Room, December 3 to 20, 2001. The theme of the exhibition was inspired by Gleeson White's special edition of The Studio entitled "Christmas cards & their chief designers" published in 1894. All quotations in the text are from this work unless otherwise noted.
Erika Dowell, Public Services Librarian (firstname.lastname@example.org), curated and designed both the Ball Room exhibition and the online exhibition.
Cards were scanned on an Epson Expression 1600 scanner using SilverFast imaging software.
