A sample of the scheduled sessions:
Beyond Meebo: Virtual Reference Options
for Your Library The end of Meebo
has left many libraries scrambling to find
alternatives for providing virtual reference
services. While there are several chat
software programs available, choosing the right
software for your library can be
challenging. The members of this panel have
all taken different approaches to virtual
reference service. They will share their
experiences in selecting a program and
implementing virtual reference.
User Behavior and Website/Discovery Layer
Design Our presentation describes
the implementation process of Primo at Franklin
College to date. In the spring of 2011, the
initial implementation phase consisted of
interface design and functionality through
informal usability studies. In addition, our
presentation focuses on the continuous use of
Primo in instructional sessions and the evaluation
of the Primo as it is used by students.
Designing Library Spaces
What does in mean to Evolve? Why do
libraries need to Evolve? This presentation
will cover what Dave and Brian have dubbed the
Evolve Project; changing the way people see
libraries. They recently underwent a seismic
change that radically reshaped the Children's
Area in the library. Utilizing new
innovative technologies such as interactive book
ends, ebars, story hour all day, and creation
areas to build interactive legos; all within an
exciting environment with vibrant colors and a
modern feel to appeal to youths and teens.
Learn what it is to be innovative and how to
become more than just books. In today's
times, libraries must become the frontier for
interaction and engagement while embedding their
environments to include new technology, open
spaces, and unique programs to pull in patrons.
Going Beyond GMail: Evolving Productivity
Through the Use of Google Apps In
March 2012, the Tipton County Public Library made
an abrupt switch from Microsoft Exchange to GMail
for their e-mail system. But what about the
other Google Apps available? What are they, and
how can the library use them to their full
advantage? Come to this session for a
glimpse into how the staff of TCPL is making plans
to evolve their productivity by going beyond GMail.
