SirsiDynix Symphony Workflows Acquisitions Unavailable starting June 22

SirsiDynix Symphony WorkFlows rollover of acquisition records to fiscal year 2014 will commence the last week of June.  To accommodate rollover, we ask that you not work in the Acquisition or Serial Control module of WorkFlows beginning Saturday, June 22.  While a notice will be sent to all library staff when rollover has been completed, normal work activities are expected to resume Tuesday, July 2.

All work with orders, funds, and vendors, including display mode and read-only access should cease during rollover.  Cataloging should not process transfers. Otherwise cataloging is not affected by rollover.  Order links in bibliographic records should not be altered.  Serials check-in should cease.  A document that identifies the specific activities not allowed during rollover is available in SharePoint here.

Please arrange your work so that you will not use SirsiDynix Symphony WorkFlows Acquisitions from Saturday, June 22 to Monday, July 1.

Save the Date for an "UnConference"

On behalf of the Information Literacy Committee of the Academic Libraries of Indiana (ALI), all academic librarians who do instruction are invited to attend one of our committee's three regional "UnConferences" happening in late July and early August.  These one-day events will give attendees an opportunity to share ideas and best practices, and collaborate to find solutions to challenges we all face in doing library instruction.

This UnConference is Your Conference - where you share your experiences:

Your methods of delivering information literacy;
Your manner of meeting the IL objectives for your students;
Your assessment of methods used;
Your favorite exercise, worksheet, rubric...

Registration for each event is free and includes lunch, thanks to the generous sponsorship of the Academic Libraries of Indiana.  Registration will be available starting Monday, June 17, and an additional message will go out when registration opens.

Emilee Mathews will be leaving the Indiana University Libraries for a position as Research Librarian for Visual Arts at the University of California, Irvine.  Emilee led the Fine Arts Library through an active interim period, and her constant devotion to that library and the Bloomington Libraries overall is greatly appreciated.  Emilee quickly became a much-valued colleague and collaborator in the Arts and Humanities Department, and her work with Reference Services illustrates her dedication to the greater network of the libraries on campus.  When I asked Emilee if there was anything she wanted me to include in this announcement, in typical Emilee fashion, she asked that I convey how much she enjoyed working with everyone.  We will miss her, but we can be certain that Emilee has a brilliant career in front of her.  Her last day at IU will be July 4.  Please join me in wishing her well.

Stonehenge

Today is officially the first day of Summer!  It's the longest day of the year here in the northern hemisphere, with the tilt of Earth's axis most inclined toward the sun.  Indiana will see a whopping 14 hours, 59 minutes, and 26 seconds of daylight.  Get outside (after your work is done, of course) and enjoy the extra long day!
