A high-capacity canister
vacuum can be useful for jobs such as getting either wet or dry loose debris out of the way at a disaster site, extracting water from hard floors, and doing a rough preliminary cleaning of shelved books if no mold growth is evident. (If mold growth is evident, see HEPA vacuum.)
Though this is of course a tool, it is included here because a comprehensive list of disaster supplies should include one and because other than general housekeeping, disaster response is our only use for this tool.
