Book trucks
Good book trucks are a must
for any circulating collections conservation unit. Our preference is the
enameled steel type. Both the body of the truck and the wheels should be
sturdy and tight. Rickety, wobbly, or otherwise unstable trucks will
launch books onto the floor. Beyond stability, our one unbending
requirement is that all four wheels must swivel. Some trucks have two
unilinear wheels and only two that swivel. We have rejected these as
unacceptable, as such trucks are difficult to control and thus
potentially dangerous to books.
