Having determined the length of the book we want to make, we cut the paper into sections, using the guillotine.

If you are doing your cutting with a razor knife and straight-edge, cut the paper a bit longer than finished length now and trim to final size only after the paper can be separated into groups of much smaller thickness. This makes for more trimming, but it's a lot more accurate than trying to trim as much paper as shown here to final size.
